Bridges
Bridges have always interested me as more than pieces of engineering. They frame the city, carry people from one place to another, and create their own spaces for walking, working, gathering, and watching the world go by. In these paintings, I was drawn both to the strength and geometry of the structures themselves and to the life happening around them—from fishing in Sheepshead Bay to traffic, pedestrians, and the sweep of the Brooklyn Bridge.

Brooklyn Bridge
The Brooklyn Bridge is so familiar that I wanted to break the view apart a little. Collage let me layer the towers, buildings, street fragments, and graffiti into the kind of crowded visual experience the city actually gives you.

Women's March 2
I wanted the crowd to feel like a mass of individual people rather than a single shape. Seen from behind, the hats, signs, and raised arms build their own rhythm beneath the ornate curve of the bridge.

Over and Under the Bridge
The bridge is experienced from so many levels that one view never seems enough. I used collage to put the walkway, street, buildings, and traffic together, letting above and below share the same space.

Bridge and Rain
Rain flattens the city into grays and blues here, but the bridge still has a strong presence. I liked the way the wet roadway pulls the eye forward while a few warmer notes keep the scene from going cold.

Sheepshead Bay
Two levels of activity share the scene: people crossing above while the fisherman occupies a quieter space below. The bright blue bridge ties everything together and makes the water feel almost as structural as the architecture.

Under the El
The elevated tracks turn the street into a tunnel of steel and shadow. I liked the long pull down the center, where cars, columns, and a small red accent keep drawing the eye forward.

Dumbo
The bridge overhead changes the scale of everything beneath it. I wanted the parked cars and old buildings to feel ordinary and close, while that enormous dark arch makes the street feel almost enclosed.
